Buckeye Livestock Expo 2024 Hog Exhibitor Rules

1. Read the Buckeye Livestock Exposition Rules and Show Ring Code of Ethics.

2. This show is open to anyone 3-21 years of age as of the show date. To be eligible to exhibit in the BLE hog show, the exhibitor must not be more than 21 years of age and at least 3 years old the day of the show.

3. Hogs can be checked in Friday June 21 from 5-7 pm, Saturday June 22  from 8-10am, and Sunday
   June 23  from 8-9 am. 

4. Any out of state exhibitor must have health papers shown to committee or an on sight vet before un
   loading.

5. All hogs must have a EFID tag.

6. Any hog showing signs of disease or sickness will be excused by show committee from the grounds,
   immediately.

7. All exhibitors will make entries using The Showman App
   a. Pre-entries will open June 1.  Entry fees are as follows
   i. Pre-Entries $35/head market and breeding classes 

ii. Entries increase to $45/head on June 9. Late Entries (June 21 or after)  $50/head market and breeding classes
iii. Showmanship $5 per exhibitor
(you do not have to have an entry in market or breeding to show showmanship)

8. All pigs weights will be declared. The judge will be given this information prior to each show and will be asked to use their own discretion when sorting hogs. The judge reserves the right to hold a suspect animal back for a larger weight class if needed.
   Crossbred breeding gilts-max weight 325#
   Market barrows and gilts –max weight 300#

9. All pigs shown must be farrowed November 2020 or after.

10. Pedigrees- All purebred hogs (gilts and barrows) whether in state or out of state exhibitor, must
    present valid pedigree to show as that breed.

11. Showmanship-Showmanship will ONLY BE OFFERED Saturday Morning.
    a. Senior- ages 17-21
    b. Intermediate – ages 13-16
    c. Junior- ages 9-12
    d. Novice-ages 5-8
    e. Peewee- ages 3-4
    f. Overall Hog Showman – winner of each division back in for an Overall Hog Showman Award

    • If more than 15 exhibitors in one class/division, will be divided into heats. Judge will select exhibitors in each heat to show for division champion.

12. Purebred Barrows and Gilts will show in alphabetical order by breed, followed with crossbreds shown in order by weight - light to heavy.

13. Crossbred Breeding Gilts MAY be double entered as market gilts.
